Namib Desert Sand Dunes

The Namib Desert is one of the oldest deserts in the world.  It is a coastal desert 1200 miles in length in southern Africa that stretches across South Africa, Namibia and Angola. I had never heard of it until I saw a Planet Earth segment on the worlds' deserts.  After watching the show and learning more about Namibia, I had to go there.

I spent a couple of days on the coast exploring the area from Sandwich Harbour to Swakupmond.  Late one afternoon I walked to the dunes just a short distance from where I was staying.  This series of images was taken there.
