Red Poppies

A couple of years ago I saw a small bouquet of poppies at the Raleigh Farmers Market.  The contrast between the red flowers and the white paper they were wrapped in caught my eye.  I bought the flowers, put them in a vase, and a day or two later as the petals began to fall off the flower I noticed how beautiful they were.  I picked up my camera to do a portrait shoot of the poppies.  Each flower seems to have a personality.

The red poppy is the symbol of remembrance and hope for the future.  They are handed out on Memorial Day in the US and on Remembrance Day in Great Britain.
